Hi! My name is Forest Li. I am the CFO and stewardship coach at Rise Above.

I am a CPA, CFP and CKA and I have been working in the accounting and finance industry for over a decade. I am a personal finance nerd and like reading and learning anything about personal finance for fun. I believe without Jesus’ presence and the biblical teaching of money principles, you will only be more lost with money then be found. The reason is that money can be falsely identified as a security net and life-giver where only God can provide us with them. I was once lost and trapped by this lie and actually lived with fear and anxiety rather than freedom.

My relationship with money completely turned around when I first encountered the concept that God owns it all (Psalm 24:1). It broke the anxiety curse that money had on me when I realized that my money decisions are not my own anymore. Every spending decision is actually a spiritual decision and it needs discernment and prayer. I am actually a steward who simply manages money for God. The question I asked myself switched from “What should I do with my money?” to “What should I do with God’s money?” That was a game-changer for me. It enables me to live with an open hand rather than a closed fist. In Galatians 5:1, it says “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” It is my desire and prayer that you will find freedom from money. I believe that you always need to start somewhere and it all begins with a small baby step.
